Under Professor Furuchi, Kawano has been engaged in the development of a new vaccine against the unidentified substance which fell from outer space. People infected with it begin to attack other human beings for blood. The one and only way to prevent the attacks of the infected people is getting vaccinated and becoming one of them. Kawano has volunatrily chosen to be infected for absorbing in the research. His girlfriend Taeko is worried about him and visits the laboratory. The special effects in "From the Dark" were adequate, but they hardly did much to lift up the slag from the mundane character gallery. The movie has a very slow paced storyline, which made it somewhat of a struggle to get through. And if you do manage to sit through the entire movie, I doubt that you will ever make it back here a second time.
From the Dark is a perfectly solid little horror movie that will likely enjoy a decent life on the VOD circuit and, with any luck, a run at the Irish box-office.

'Dark' is slow paced in the beginning, but it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is tense, the cinematography and acting is great. There is so much more depth to it than the mentioned Stranger Things. It's not bloated with special effects and didn't have a Hollywood budget. This is how TV should be. It has got a Donnie Darko feeling to it.
