was SO excited when I was asked to review the Beyond the Circle books, as I am a long-time Ted Dekker fan. The Oath still tops my list for scariest book that I’ve ever read, hands down. So when I found myself struggling to get into this series, I was a little sad. There are two books in the series–The 49th Mystic and Rise of the Mystics.

The 49th Mystic is the first installment from Ted Dekker’s newest series, Beyond the Circle. I thought it was pretty good. It is a different from the normal genre I like to read but it was refreshing to read something new and unique.
