SURVIVING LUNCH is produced by SOURCE PRODUCTIONS, a national film company created by Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida and features an exciting and talented cast of young professional actors – all of whom are committed to using their talents to address bullying and gun violence in American schools.
Surviving Lunch has been presented to thousands of middle- and high-school students by the national SOURCE Theatre Company of Sarasota, Florida. The play has evoked extensive post-show discussions and evaluations and is highly praised by teachers, administrators and students.
We are so excited that Surviving Lunch is part of a fascinating new course designed by visionary Dean William Woodson at New College of Florida on Film and Social Justice.
“Surviving Lunch,” produced by Jerry Chambless, was filmed from April to June last year at various schools and other locations in the Sarasota area. Hundreds of young people auditioned for the roles. Two students from Booker Middle School, Cooper Flerlage and Dylan Ramon, play bullying victims.
Surviving Lunch – a new film about bullying for middle and high school students Gabriella, a beautiful and tough New York girl, moves to Florida with her Mom after her father is killed in a school shooting. Trying to keep to herself and recover from her grief, Gabriella notices a boy being relentlessly bullied in the lunchroom.
SURVIVING LUNCH was commissioned by the Sara- sota County Public School Board and premiered by The SOURCE Teen Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, for six thou- sand students in 2003/2004.
